MAHLE Clevite has moved toward the standardization of part numbers for heavy duty engine kits. These new numbers support the current seven digit (telephone number) Clevite/Perfect Circle numbering format. The new kit numbers can be considered "smart" part numbers because they provide details about the particular kit.
The engine kit's 3-digit prefix will tell you the OEM of the engine.
The first digit after the hyphen will be either a one (1) or a five (5).
The hyphen one (-1) identifies the kit as an overhaul kit and supplies all the parts required for an out of the frame overhaul. Thers parts normally include: liner kits or rebore kits, main bearings, rod bearings, thrust washer (as needed), head gasket set, lower gasket set, front and rear seals. Rod bolts are included in some select John Deere kits.
The hyphen five (-5) identifies the kit as an in-frame kit and this will include all the parts for a rebuild of the engine without removing the engine from the unit. These parts normally include: liner kits or rebore kits, main bearings, rod bearings, thrust washer (as needed), head gasket set, pan gasket/oil pan gasket set. Rod bolts are included in some select John Deere kits.
Examples:
427-1000 = John Deere overhaul kit
427-5000 = John Deere in-frame kit
This includes sleeve assembly parts lists and specifications for sleeves, pistons, rings and bearings.
This feature can be used when clicking on a Part No. within a kit bill of materials.
